NAND flash average price increase over Q1

Q1 2020 saw the average price of NAND flash increase but actual shipments remained flat compared with the previous quarter, reports SemiMedia,

The overall industry quarterly revenue increased by 8.3% to $13.6 billion.

SemiMedia says, “Since the fourth quarter of last year, data center demand has been on the rise. In addition, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the recovery of the server’s supply chain is better than that of laptops and smartphones, so the demand for data centers is relatively less affected by the epidemic.”

Reporting on a study by DRAMeXchange, they say, “Looking forward to the second quarter, applications such as remote services continue to stimulate the demand for data centers, and work-from-home and distance education have also increased the purchase of desktops and laptops by companies and governments.

“NAND Flash market demand will continue to be dominated by tablets, laptops, desktops, and Enterprise SSDs. Due to the strong overall demand, NAND Flash contract prices will continue to rise due to continued market shortages.”
