Some good news – Foxconn re-opens Wuhan factory

You may be surprised to hear that today (20th March) is International Day of Happiness. With so much uncertainly around us, it might seem hard to feel happy. But there is some good news – Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., AKA Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics maker, has gained approval to reopen its Wuhan factory.

According to an internal letter to its employees obtained by CNA, Hon Hai has received approval from authorities in Wuhan for production to resume.

According to the letter, the first workers have returned to Hon Hai’s production site in Wuhan, Hubei Province, where the manufacturing giant has also been engaged in anti-virus contagion efforts in its factories.

Currently, Hon Hai, one of the largest Taiwanese investors in China, employs more than 1 million workers in the country, rolling out devices for international tech brands such as Apple Inc., Amazon.com, Google Inc., HP Inc. Dell Inc., and Huawei Technologies Inc.

In Wuhan, which is a large production base in central China for Hon Hai, the company rolls out desktop computers and provides solutions for system integration.
