Q2 forecast: like Q1, but pricier – says EPS

obsolescence management

For electronics buyers, Q2 is going to look a lot like Q1, but more expensive, reports EPS (Electronics Purchasing & Supply Chain).

The ‘grim trend’ is that components will remain scarce and prices will continue to rise. Industry observers expect price hikes of 5 percent to 15 percent. The usual causes – materials shortages, inflation and logistics disruptions – are hanging around.

According to EPS, the cargo marketplace Freightos reports exports out of China are severely curtailed. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has required some logistics work-arounds and several metals and materials used in semiconductor production are sourced from that region.

Certain product categories may loosen up as 2022 progresses, but indicators are pointing toward several more quarters of constrained supply, says EPS.

To avoid electronics supply-chain disruptions, you may also wish to consult an expert in electronics component supply. With more than three decades of supply-chain expertise, Astute Electronics is ideally placed to work with you on your daily component requirements.
