By 2030, China will be ‘world champion’ in global semiconductor – DigiTimes

Based on the recent report from SIA, the China semiconductor industry grew 30.6% in 2020, reports DigiTimes. If the growth rate continues, by 2030, DigiTimes expects it to become a “world champion in the semiconductor industry”.

TSMC then continues to surge in the foundry sector and surpass other competitors in the world. In 2022, it expects to grow 29% in sales revenue. Many Taiwan semiconductor companies also expressed high interest in automobile chips and welcome more cooperation with mainstream carmakers.

China reports robust semiconductor industry growth despite US sanctions: Although some of its key semiconductor industry players were put on the Entity List by the US government since 2019, China managed to register double-digit growth in the revenues of all of its semiconductor sub-sectors in 2020, pushing up global market shares to challenge Taiwan and the US, according to several recent reports.
