Global semiconductor sales dropped 2.4% in February compared to the previous month, with China’s falling fastest at 7.5%, according to data released yesterday by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
In numbers, this represents a global decrease of US $0.9 billion from US $35.4 to US $34.5 billion in between January to February 2020.
“Global semiconductor sales in February were generally stable, surpassing the sales in February last year,” said John Neuffer, CEO of SIA, “but the demand in the Chinese market was significantly lower than in January.
“It can be seen that the actual overall impact of the epidemic on global semiconductor sales is beyond our control.”
