Energy sector: semiconductor shortage will continue, says Hitachi

Hitachi Energy India’s order book is robust but it continues to face semiconductor shortages and commodity and freight price increases, says N Venu, MD, Hitachi Energy India in this Economic Times interview.

“Shortage of semiconductors is beyond our control and is really affecting our grid automation business. But we are taking a lot of mitigation actions. For example, we are focusing on the products where there is less interference on the semiconductors. But this is a global phenomenon. Though it is getting better, it might take at least a couple of more quarters before we come back to normal normalization.”

“Orders are now coming from the solar segment in renewable, followed by wind. We are already working with various stakeholders in that and HVDC is another big opportunity in that going forward.
