Auto chip suppliers see inventory levels rise

Auto chip inventories are starting to increase at major semiconductor suppliers, reports the Nikkei Asian Review. The report cited Texas Instruments (TXN), NXP Semiconductors (NXPI), Renesas, STMicroelectronics (STM), and Infineon as the suppliers seeing their inventory levels increase.

Between these five companies, inventories rose 0.7% in the three months from July through September. That marks the first quarterly increase for inventories at major auto chip suppliers in nine months, Nikkei said.

Continental, one of the world’s largest auto parts suppliers, said on a recent earnings conference call, “We believe that the period of the most severe semiconductor shortage has passed.”
