Passives inventory ‘far below’ healthy levels, reports DigiTimes

DigiTimes ended 2020 with a report that one of the largest passive components suppliers, Yageo, has only about two months of MLCC which is “far below healthy levels” but it can’t increase production due to a range of factors.

In a statement, Yageo said the imbalance of supply/demand since the 2nd half of Y2019 has “made Yageo very [SIC] low inventory level, and we are not able to improve the low inventory level shortly with the currently limited workforce.”

They also said the high cost of labor, logistics, and material “has been increased tremendously”. Supply chain ripples were also felt by device manufacturers as they fought over LCD panel shortages, reports DigiTimes, as well as car manufacturers who faced chip shortages.
