Astute announces Positronic’s inclusion on European Space Agency Preferred Parts List

Electronic component and supply chain experts, Astute Electronics, are excited to announce that Positronic, part of Amphenol Corp and one of the most respected interconnect brands, has achieved European Space Agency (ESA) EPPL status for their SND and SDD Series D-Sub connectors.

Claire Cave, Interconnect Product Manager, Astute Electronics, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited to see Positronic’s SND and SDD Series D-Sub connectors gain ESA’s European Preferred Parts List status. We know it’s been a journey but what a great achievement! This opens up new opportunities for manufacturers in the spacecraft hardware and related equipment sector, providing them access to these exceptional connectors.”

The European Space Components Coordination (ESCC) was established in October 2002 to guide users towards a limited number of component types, thereby reducing duplication, cutting costs, and enhancing purchasing efficiency within the European space industry. Part of this effort is the European Preferred Parts List (EPPL), which now includes Positronic’s SND and SDD Series D-Sub connector products.

These connectors offer versatility with options for both press-fit terminations for PCB installation and versions with crimp, removable contacts. Furthermore, Positronic is actively pursuing qualification of their entire D-Sub product range, including SP Max, with plans for completion in early 2024.

With this significant milestone, Positronic reinforces its position – and Amphenol’s – in the extremely challenging space sector, strengthening its partnership with Astute Electronics in serving the demanding needs of the global space industry.
