Defence industry supply chains: coronavirus threatens long-term disruption

supply chain

Concerns are growing that widespread failure in defence industry supply chains will stretch well beyond short-term disruptions, says this article in Military Aerospace Electronics.

Reporting comments from an electronics industry insider that “the whole supply chain is a mess right now”, the article highlight a particular concern that “small businesses that form a core of the Pentagon’s future technological development may be particularly vulnerable”. It says there are roughly 50,000 small businesses that provide innovation support for the DOD, “all of which is vulnerable to economic upheaval”.

The article refers to a supply chain “ecosystem” which may suffers widespread failure due to the coronavirus.
