Aerospace & Defence group, ADS, has called on the Government to take urgent action to prevent longer term damage to the aviation industry.
ADS Chief, Paul Everitt, made comments after new figures were released that show aircraft manufacturing hit a record low for November 2020 and was 91% down on the same month in 2019.
There were only 27 global commercial aircraft orders in November 2020, although this was the highest number for a single month since March 2020. Global deliveries of commercial aircraft deliveries reached 71 in November, slightly down on the previous month but still a significant rise the record lows seen in Q2 and Q3 this year.
“The UK aviation and aerospace industries face a deepening crisis. The latest travel bans, fragile consumer confidence and little success so far in achieving resilient travel protocols, leaves airlines, airports and aerospace manufacturers uncertain about future demand and the route to recovery,” said Everitt.
